OIl studies and sketches

By studying the masters and great artist we can learn so much.
Below this study canvas to portraits are a few of the Master works I made studies of. I did some studies of two of the greatest portraitist artist Rembrandt and Velasquez. I know I can never compare myself to such greatness but the fun in understanding just a little and what we learn is mind blowing.

Sex, art, reproduction and the human form.

Sex , art and the human form have always been intertwined through out the ages. From the first cave men to artist today it like food and survival has always been at the forefront. We are creatures of instinct just as all of nature is so are we. The things that interest us the most would always manifest them selves in our art. Artist have always focused on the beauty of the human form.
Below are a few recent drawings and some older paintings of live models. Working from life is always best but in today's world we must use all the resources we can.
The female form has been of the greatest focus since our first primitive creations. Artist such as Klimt, Pearlstien, who I was lucky enough to study under while at Pratt, and others are a few of the recent artist who have painted and glorified the female form in all of its' beauty.
Klimt's painting the kiss is probably one of the most reproduced pieces of work, known through out the world. In it he captures the moment of ecstasy. Picasso also captured those moments that were usually private and extremely sexual. So much can be told by the gesture posture of the human form. I have included a few painting for non nudes. I shall be updating this page. I shall also add more information in regards to this subject.
